7 Interesting Hubble Space Telescope Facts You Didn’t Know
Hubble Space Telescope: Humans have always enamored with the infinite vast sky and their possibilities which is beyond our world. The scientist who went ahead and teaches us about the universe gave all the answer to questions which were there in-universe. The Hubble Space Telescope which invented for exploring the universe and gave us a beautiful image of the universe.
Hubble Space Telescope Facts which we need to know:
1). It took several decades to make
To launch this telescope, it took several years. This idea came in the year 1946 when astrophysicist Lyman Spitzer Jr. wrote a letter on space which is related to space observatory and convinced the government that why it was necessary, It took a long time for several years. In 1997 the request successfully approved the funding for this massive telescope.
2). Named after an astronomer
The Hubble space telescope is famous in the name of astronomer Edwin Hubble, who has contributed about the field of space and he expanded our knowledge of the universe. One of those things which he proposed that Andromeda was a separate galaxy which was so far like a thousand of light years away from the galaxy.

The massive telescope, which gave us lots of images which only depend on the darkest part of the universe. So, the telescope is the one who helped us to see the unseen pictures (never seen before) of galaxies and distant star system.
4). A delayed launch
In 1986, the challenge of space shuttle which exploded and seven astronauts got killed in that incident. Launching the Hubble telescope was a hurdle because it depended only on maintenance and transport. After seven years it was determined and was set for the whole launch, and presume about $1 billion over budget.
5). Power
Hubble telescope is fast and full of energy. It uses only 2800 watts, which is generated by solar panels that are 2.6 X 7.1 meters. The telescope is so fast and its speed around 28,000 km/h. It is 12 times fast in the form of the Concorde supersonic airliner.
6). Taking picture
It might be a great camera, but it doesn’t print photos on film. It is more like a digital camera where pictures are captured in electronic detectors. Even they are not colorful images. They are black and white. Images which we see it is a result of a combination of various black and white with exposures made by colored filters.
7). Anyone can request to use the HST
There is an option which is open for all, but competition is tough. Every year, John Hopkins from University’s Space Telescope Science Institute makes an open call to astronomers everywhere to give a chance to use the telescope.
